Hannes is a Senior Expert for Migration and leads the Foundation’s work on the future of refugee protection and on climate change and migration. His expertise includes international and national migration and refugee policy, climate change and migration, and international human rights and refugee law.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Hannes worked for several years in humanitarian and development aid, mainly in the Middle East, including for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Iran and with CARE on Iraq. Hannes is a graduate in Management and Public Administration (Hertie School) and Political Science (University of Oxford & Freie Universität Berlin).
